Hargeisa Deluxe Photobook by Sharmaarke Ali Adan

'Hargeisa' is project by Sharmaarke Ali Adan that was inspired by the pursuit for a new representation of Somali youth.

The authenticity of this was achieved using menswear pieces, a makeshift studio in the room of a family house and street casting of Somali boys.The project was created with the idea of imagining a modern future for Somali youth with their own style and representation - this was expressed through menswear styling. The focus was on capturing the realism and character of East Africa, in a non-contrived and natural way, and this can be seen in the photography's sleight of hand and candid styling/direction.
